I've spent my 1st night in a hostel and it was... interesting. I'm bunking with 2 older women, one from France and one from Maryland. I'm probably not the best bunk mate as I don't want to swap stories or even exchange names. But alas I concede and introduce myself to Ms. Maryland. Her name is Lisa and according to her "teachers get paid way too much for the amount of work they do." Looks like I'm not the one with bad manners anymore. After enduring her never ending and long winded tales of cheating ex- boyfriends and could-have-been-husbands she leaves the room. This may be the last time I committ to a hostel environment.
Welcome to the 1st post of my Alaskan Adventure! To catch you up to speed I will be hiking, kayaking and camping Prince William Sound in, obviously, Alaska.
Some big goals I have for this trip is to explore a place I have never been before, take gorgeous pictures of nature and wildlife to share with my 8th graders next year, and to walk among our slowly melting glaciers.
I am riding a roller coaster of excitement, fear, curiosity and anxiety as I sit down for a last meal before boarding the plane. I assume there will be limited cell reception so posts may be sporadic. Keep posted and I'll try to keep posting.
